Ser más fuerte que un roble

(To be as strong as an ox)

"Slang and idioms define our way of speaking. They are unavoidable if you aim to understand and use Spanish in a current way. You may read books in Spanish and hold a conversation with a shop assistant confidently, but you won't be able to have a night out without feeling like a scared student unless you understand the world of language there is out of the classroom and away from the textbooks; a world of colloquialisms and terms that are never taught in school."

(A person who is as strong as an oak is very strong. It is based on the idea that an oak is a very strong tree.)

Notice: In the Spanish version of this idiom an oak is used instead of an ox.

Get Roberto to lift it, he's as strong as an ox.)

He is one of our best players, he's as strong as an ox and really fast.)
